Rebel Monkey, Inc. is looking for a top-notch user interface designer and 2D game artist to work on original 2D games and web content. The User Interface Designer must have experience making user-friendly, highly polished and interactive User Interfaces for digital media, preferably for games.
Rebel Monkey is a venture-backed game development house, founded by two successful industry vets. All of our games are developed on a collaborative basis so you will need to be ok with our open process and be able to share and take constructive feedback and implement changes defined by the project leads. Work must be performed on-site in our Manhattan offices.
Casual Games are a special category of games that are designed to appeal to as many people around the world as possible. Casual games are found as downloadable games, web games, and increasingly on mobile, console and other hand-held platforms. They average casual gamer would not be into first-person shooter games, for examples. The successful candidate will have a sense of what would work well with this audience, will have a sensibility towards pop culture and creating fun, lively but accessible User Interfaces and other game art. Rebel Monkey works on all original Intellectual Property (i.e., we’re not advergamers) so the User Interface Designer must understand how to create interactive media that is clean, polished, accessible and audience-appropriate.
The User Interface Designer will design and create the User Interfaces and other 2D game art for Rebel Monkey’s premiere online and downloadable games from concept through completion. The UI Designer will also work to create Rebel Monkey-owned web properties. The ideal candidate will be a positive presence in the office and have the potential to serve as a core member of development teams. Responsibilities
* Make flowcharts, wireframes and storyboards for Rebel Monkey’s original line of casual games.
* Create highly polished user interfaces for our video games and our own web content * Create other in-game 2D art – including environments, objects, ads, characters * Work with other artists to create the overall "look and feel" for a given game * Work with other team members on establishing look and feel * Contribute to a positive and highly creative work environment.
